KB Student of the Month- Samantha Sampson

1. How did you find KB?

I was scrolling through some ones twitter feed..lol. No I am not a stalker, I was just bored.

2. What was your first class like?

My first class was “Hell-ish”. Yes I know that’s not a real word but that is the only way I can describe what I went through at 10 am that Saturday morning.

3. Why did you fall in love with it?

For so long I was actually scared to push myself, and ironically that’s exactly what made me fall in love with the class. The adrenaline rush I got from not only being successful, but seeing that I was way stronger and faster than I ever could have imagined made me sign up immediately after class was finished. I’m a kettle bell junkie, and I am totally okay with that.

4. Tell us about a personal struggle that fitness/ training has helped you with.  How has training helped you “change the way you see yourself?”

Growing up I was fully convinced I sucked at anything that related to a physical activity ( I failed gym…who does that?). I never really had a sense of what I could do physically, and I never realized it was something that I could actually excel at. Every time I train I always think about how can I push myself and how can I be better today than yesterday. This is the first time in my adult life where its not only about size, or the scale but the thrill of feeling like I climbed a mountain and survived. Its helped me unlock a passion for fitness, instead of seeing it as an obligation. Taking this class has made me realize that there is way more to me than I ever gave myself credit for, and I wouldn’t trade that feeling for the world.

5. Do you have a personal mantra that keeps you going when you’re exhausted?

Here’s what I think about during that 8th sprawl and there are 5 more left: “If you were in a battle you wouldn’t stop running if some one was shooting at you, so why stop now?” I have to give credit to Dasha for that one.

6. What’s your “go to” training song?

If I have to narrow it down to one…It would be Monster by Jay-z, Kanye west, Nikki Minaj and Rick Ross…I’m a hip hop head.

7. Any food you can’t stay away from?

Currently peanut butter is my kryptonite. I wouldn’t mind diving head first into a plate of pancakes either.

Dasha’s note:

“One of the people that literally LIGHT UP my 6pm class is Sam, she always trains right behind me (front row) and no matter what type of day I am having, her smile and positive, happy energy just comes through and into my class. In all honesty I get truly happy when I
see her in class – she is truly what Kettlebell Kickboxing is all about, she represents the brand perfectly… and I value her as a student, an athlete and a person :)” – XOKb Dasha
