Julie Tsai

I’m an ACE-certified Personal Trainer as well as an AFAA-certified Group Exercise instructor, and I’ve been in the health and wellness industry for over 17 years. My own personal journey began with rehabilitation and functional training after a few injuries caused chronic pain and limitations. This experience led me to my particular interests in bodyweight strength training and conditioning, kettlebell training for conditioning and rehabilitation, and body alignment and flexibility training through yoga and pilates. My free time is spent between health and wellness coaching, teaching group fitness classes, and developing new and tasty recipes that can fit into any lifestyle. I’m passionate about helping people change their lives through fitness and health and finding their balance in life for physical, mental and emotional well being.

What inspires me

My family and my students inspire me daily. I'm always amazed at the perseverance and excitement when someone's passion is ignited, whether it's my kids' love of art or the confidence that my students feel when they reach their goals in class or our coaching sessions. It pushes me to work harder and learn more so I can share new knowledge that can help them live their lives more fully and happily.

Favorite KB moves

What I love about KB is that you can either increase the complexity of the moves to keep it fresh and invigorating, or strip the workouts down to the essentials and get an awesome total body session in a short period of time. So for me, nothing beats a KB swing or the variations, and my fave is the squat swing for the glutes and quads. I also love the high pulls, the Figure 8, and the leopard kick outs for fancier options!

Best part about my class

The energy and fun--whether it's geeky humor or straightforward intensity, I encourage my students to not take things too seriously! I also love to motivate them to push themselves harder during class and achieve more than they initially think they can. That "A-ha!" moment is priceless!
